Stalls with handicrafts and souvenirs, Hmong people dressed in traditional outfits, a picturesque location at the foot of the mountains and green rice fields. Cat Cat is a small tourist village - open-air museum only three kilometers from Sa Pa. It is a perfect place for trekking or a several hour walk from Sa Pa. On the way, you can admire the picturesque rice terraces, cultivated fields where vegetables, cardamom and indigo are grown to dye the costumes for a characteristic dark blue color, observe the lives of inhabitants in traditional wooden huts, covered with leaves, without doors and windows. Colorful mountain tribe lives in Cat Cat, and other nearby villages, invariably for centuries, living from cattle breeding, rice and corn cultivation and weaving. Walking along Cat Cat with paved sidewalks, you can buy handicraft products made by Hmong people on every corner, lots of jewelry, scarves, figurines carved from the root and other objects. A narrow path down, between buildings and stalls, goes slowly down to the place where there is a waterfall and a French hydroelectric station. The village is visited by a lot of travelers, so to experience some peace it is worth going there in the middle of the day and off the weekend to avoid crowds.
