The Lake of Returned Sword In the heart of the capital of Vietnam is the Hoan Kiem Lake – called the “Lake of Returned Sword”. Every day, crowds of Vietnamese look out for the turtle, which is a sacred animal for them. In the early morning, the fog rises over the lake. Older Vietnamese are practicing tai-chi, the younger are spreading their stalls with fans, wooden dolls, masks and paper cards with the image of a turtle. From the eastern shore of the lake leads to island the beautiful wooden bridge with red balustrades, called the "Bridge of the Rising Sun". This bridge is probably the most photographed building in Hanoi. It is a picturesque link of the city with the Temple of the Jade Mountain on the island of Hoàn Kiem Lake.
